About our Accommodation
Our rooms at Avoncourt Guesthouse in Ilfracombe are simply furnished, with large windows and lots of light. Three of them have small balconies. There are lovely views over Ilfracombe from the front and to the rocky cliff garden in the back – sea views are stunning, but only from the top of the Torrs walk, which runs past the front door and up to the cliffs, about 500 yards further on.
Our wi-fi is erratic but available. The construction of the building and the location of the property mean wi-fi is not entirely reliable, but guests are welcome to use it, technology permitting.
We have a comfortable lounge library on the ground floor, an ‘honesty’ bar, and a fully equipped drying room, with places to hang wet gear and to dry wet or sandy boots.

Our Rooms
All rooms have en suite baths, 7 with full length tubs and overhead showers, 3 with shower only. The bathrooms are spacious and airy, with room to relax after a day in the great outdoors. Rooms come with TV, tea and coffee facilities and shower amenities as standard, while beach towels and dog towels are available in the Drying room. Please call or email direct, or at least note it on your booking, if you want a specific room request such as balcony or bath tub.
Most of our rooms are on the first floor, making easy access for all and very suitable for groups staying together. Our ground floor room is frequently preferred by dog owners, as it is directly opposite the front door and very easy for dogs to come and go. Also, the stairs have open treads which some dogs don’t appreciate

Guest Lounge/Library
We have a comfortable lounge library on the ground floor, with a larger TV, armchairs and an eclectic selection of books. Guests are welcome to browse and take a book away – providing they promise to return it later. The lounge library is also good for cards and Scrabble on the occasional wet day (yes, even in Devon!)
Our Bar
The bar is run as an ‘honesty’ bar, with guests paying cash or signing for drinks and settling up on check out. The bar is a great place for groups to gather at the end of the day, and to plan for the next adventure. Fully stocked and traditionally furnished, it offers a dartboard and various board games for those reluctant to venture out again after a long day
Drying Facilities
Our ground floor also has a fully equipped Drying room, with places to hang wet gear and to dry wet or sandy boots. Plenty of hanging space and two large heaters, so you won’t have to get back into wet clothes. Also a washer and dryer, as well as iron and ironing board, either for unexpectedly muddy jeans – or for ironing that special wedding outfit if you are attending a wedding at the Tunnels. Cycles and surf boards can be safely stored here overnight
